Aviva Investors Brings Regulated Asset to XRP Ledger
Aviva Investors and Ripple have partnered to launch a tokenised share class of the Aviva Investors US Dollar Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger. The Central Bank of Ireland approved the new tokenised fund share class, making it a regulatory first for tokenised fund structures.
The USD Liquidity Fund targets low-risk returns and daily liquidity through exposure to high-grade U.S. dollar-denominated short-term debt instruments. The fund's assets will remain held by The Bank of New York Mellon, while eligible investors can access the share class through digital wallets.
Mark Versey, CEO at Aviva Investors, said, “We’re thrilled to be able to announce the launch of our first fund in the tokenisation space.” He added that Ripple’s partnership was crucial to the launch and that Aviva Investors plans to continue working with Ripple while exploring more tokenised fund structures.
Nigel Khakoo, Senior Vice President, Trading and Markets at Ripple, said, “This is a landmark moment for fund tokenisation.” He added that Aviva Investors had brought a regulated institutional product to live infrastructure with investor protections. The XRP Ledger was built for exactly this kind of application.
