Aviva Investors, Ripple Launch First Public-Chain Tokenized Fund in EU
A major milestone has been reached in the adoption of public-chain tokenized funds. On July 29, 2026, Aviva Investors and Ripple went live with a tokenized share class of the USD Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger, marking the first time a central bank has approved such a structure.
The Central Bank of Ireland cleared the innovative fund, giving EU asset managers a public-chain compliance template to follow. The mechanism involves Licuido's tokenization platform issuing digital share classes on XRPL, with Komainu holding custody under its regulated framework and BNY Mellon maintaining underlying assets.
Ripple powers the new tokenized share class for Aviva Investors' USD Liquidity Fund, with Nigel Khakoo, Senior Vice President of Trading and Markets at Ripple, describing the launch as demonstrating that a regulated, institutional-grade tokenized product can be brought to market on live infrastructure.
