Aviva Launches First Tokenized Fund Share Class on XRP Ledger
Aviva Investors has launched its first tokenized fund share class on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) in partnership with Ripple. The new product, a US Dollar Liquidity Fund, is designed to offer institutional-grade investment opportunities with the efficiency and cost savings of blockchain technology.
The Central Bank of Ireland approved the regulated tokenized structure, marking an industry milestone for traditional asset managers entering the blockchain space.
Ripple provided the blockchain infrastructure through XRPL, which is known for its speed of settlement, low fees, and suitability for institutions. The XRP Ledger has generated over 4 billion transactions since its launch in 2012, with near 8 million active wallets and maintained by over 130 independent validators.
The tokenized share class trades on the XRPL and will have the same objective, liquidity, risk profile, and regulatory protections as the traditional share class. The Bank of New York Mellon protects the underlying assets.
