AWS, JPMorgan Bet Big on Quantum Computing for Finance

Share

AWS and JPMorgan have teamed up for a multi-year research partnership focused on applying quantum computing to core financial problems. The partnership, which runs through Amazon Braket, aims to develop hybrid quantum-classical algorithms that can handle complex mathematical tasks more efficiently.

The collaboration has already yielded some promising results, including a joint study published in May 2024 that examined quantum speedups for maximum independent set problems. In 2025, the partnership reported scaling hybrid quantum experiments to hundreds of qubits using Rydberg atom hardware.

JPMorgan's quantum research also targets fortifying defenses against potential cryptocurrency vulnerabilities attributable to quantum advancements. The bank has been working on developing post-quantum cryptography - new encryption standards designed to hold up even when quantum computers become powerful enough to stress-test current methods.
