Axie Classic Players Must Step Up as Dev Support Ends
Axie Classic, the original web3 game that sparked a global gaming explosion, is facing its ultimate decentralization test.
Developer Sky Mavis has announced it will pause regular competitive seasons and halt active feature development after Season 16 concludes on September 10. The company will also remove Classic quests from the daily Bounty Board.
This means that the game's future will depend entirely on its player base, which must step up to fund prize pools, manage grassroots balance feedback, and host their own events if they want the game to survive long-term.
The final official season offers two qualification slots for the Champions Invitational, where players can compete for a 5,000 bAXS prize pool. The remaining Season 15 spot has already been secured by runner-up Eshaz.
