B20 Stock Tokens Trade Over Weekends, But Lending Platform Raises Red Flags
Coinbase's new B20 stock tokens on Base allow users to trade exposure to Apple, Alphabet, Meta, and Nvidia-linked shares even when Wall Street is closed.
The tokens are designed for eligible users outside the United States and differ from ordinary US-listed shares. Coinbase describes them as having continuous secondary transferability, while Base presents them as building blocks for decentralized finance.
Aave, a lending platform integrated with Base, allows holders to use tokenized Nvidia exposure as collateral. However, during the weekend when the underlying equity market was closed, there were no verified live values available for loan-to-value ratios or liquidation thresholds.
The official Aave V3 Base address book contained no reserve, which raises questions about the readiness of the B20 asset list and its risk controls for lending. The proposal to finalize the initial assets and oracle configuration for V4 on Base has been pending since August 3.
