BaFin Warns Against Tresorbit.com for Unauthorised Crypto Services
Germany's financial regulator BaFin has issued a warning about the website tresorbit.com for offering unauthorised crypto-asset services. According to the regulator, the case involves identity misuse at the expense of Gesellschaft für Kryptoregisterführung mbH, a German company based in Willich.
BaFin states that crypto-asset services are offered through the website without authorisation, specifically trading in crypto-assets. The regulator bases its publication on section 10 subsection 7 of the German Crypto Markets Supervision Act, which allows for public notification of unauthorised crypto offerings and naming names and addresses.
Identity misuse occurs when unknown operators use a real company's name, address, or register details to give their own offering a respectable appearance. This can be difficult to detect, as the affected company is not involved in the scheme and may have a genuine commercial register entry and website with correct imprint.
