Balancer Seeks Shutdown Amid Revenue Shortfalls
Balancer, a decentralized exchange and automated market maker, is considering winding down its operations after restructuring failed to boost revenue.
The proposal for an orderly wind-down was put forth by Balancer Labs CEO Marcus Hardt in the governance forum on Monday. It suggests distributing the remaining $9 million treasury to BAL tokenholders if the protocol shuts down.
Hardt acknowledged that while cost-cutting efforts and new product deliveries were successful, revenue did not recover as expected following a $128 million exploit in November. This setback weighed heavily on adoption, he noted.
