Bank Leumi Teams Up with Galaxy Digital for Israeli Crypto Trading
Israel's Bank Leumi is teaming up with Galaxy Digital to offer cryptocurrency trading through its mobile banking ecosystem. The service, expected to launch in early 2027, will allow customers to buy, hold, and sell Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and Solana (SOL) via the Leumi Trade app.
The partnership marks a significant step towards mainstreaming digital asset trading in Israel, with Bank Leumi aiming to become the first Israeli bank to offer direct trading services to customers through its platform. Galaxy Digital will provide trading services through its GalaxyOne Institutional platform and custody infrastructure using its GK8 platform.
While Galaxy Digital reported an $85 million net loss in the second quarter, its digital assets segment generated $66 million in adjusted gross profit, up 34% from the prior quarter. The partnership's success will depend on whether Galaxy can support a consumer-facing launch and how Leumi structures the customer experience.
