Bank of Ghana Launches Committee to Regulate Virtual Assets
The Bank of Ghana has taken a significant step in regulating virtual assets by launching the Virtual Assets Coordinating Committee (VACC) on August 27, 2026.
The VACC aims to bolster regulatory coordination and enhance consumer protection in Ghana's emerging crypto landscape, with its formation being pivotal for the implementation of the Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, 2025.
The committee includes key stakeholders such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Ministry of Finance, focusing on improving information sharing and addressing emerging risks in the digital finance sector.
