Bank of New York Mellon Invests Heavily in Coinbase Global Stock

Bank of New York Mellon Corp acquired approximately $143 million in Coinbase Global stock during the second quarter, according to its most recent Form 13F filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission. The firm purchased 978,144 shares, representing about 0.37% of Coinbase's outstanding stock.

This is not an isolated instance; other institutional investors have also made significant investments in Coinbase Global. Norges Bank bought a new position in shares of Coinbase Global in the fourth quarter worth approximately $656 million. Capital World Investors raised its holdings in Coinbase Global by 847.2% during the same period, with Southpoint Capital Advisors LP and Cria Inc. acquiring new stakes as well.

Coinbase's stock has seen a recent surge due to several factors, including optimism surrounding the CLARITY Act, Bitcoin's breakout above $77,000, and international expansion efforts in Abu Dhabi. Analysts have also been bullish on Coinbase, with Goldman Sachs Group cutting its price target from $198 to $173 but maintaining a 'buy' rating.
