Banking Lobby Backs Clarity Act With Minor Edits: Stablecoins Remain a Sticking Point
The American Bankers Association CEO, Rob Nichols, says his organization supports the Clarity Act with minor edits. The bill aims to provide clearer regulation for cryptocurrencies in the US.
Nichols stated that 'there's a lot of good' in the Clarity Act but mentioned that issues around stablecoin yield and local lending need to be resolved.
The 600-page bill was passed by the House last year, but its progress has been stalled due to concerns over stablecoins. The banking lobby opposes allowing customers to earn yield on these assets.
