Bankman-Fried Backs Trump's Iran Strikes in Pardon Bid
Sam Bankman-Fried's efforts to secure a presidential pardon have taken an unusual turn. The former FTX CEO, serving a 25-year federal sentence for fraud, has publicly backed President Trump's Iran strikes and several administration policy positions through prison-approved intermediaries.
This campaign has attracted criticism from pro-crypto Republican lawmakers, who fear that a Bankman-Fried pardon would damage the sector's political standing. Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH), a crypto advocate, stated 'The guy shouldn't be pardoned. He should go to jail for a long, long time.'
Bankman-Fried has praised Trump's Iran military operation as necessary to counter nuclear risk and credited him with saving the SEC through the appointment of Paul Atkins. However, his efforts have been met with two public rejections from Trump himself.
