The developer behind the Bankr platform has been in the news after their Twitter account was compromised. Sean Papanikolas, who founded Bankr, had his Bankr X account hacked, allowing a hacker to access his personal information and leak his real name.

Papanikolas also used the compromised account to promote Ethereum Improvement Proposal 2309 (EIP-2309), which is an optional extension for ERC-721 standardizing the 'ConsecutiveTransfer' event. This allows for efficient creation, transfer, or destruction of sequentially numbered NFTs in a single transaction.

Before founding Bankr, Papanikolas worked as a senior software engineer at Payward, the parent company of an exchange, from 2021 to 2022 and briefly served as a senior software engineer at OpenSea in 2023.
