Banks' Blockchain Adoption Halted by Data Confidentiality Concerns
EthSystems Co-Founder Mo Jalil says that privacy is the biggest hurdle for banks to engage with public blockchain networks. Banks need granular control over who can view specific data, when access is granted, and under what conditions. This includes selectively disclosing transaction details to regulators while keeping them hidden from competitors or the general public.
Jalil emphasized that it's not about hiding everything, but rather having control over what is visible to whom and for how long. He stated that nearly all financial institutions require some level of confidentiality.
EthSystems plans to work with existing projects in the privacy ecosystem, collaborating rather than competing with established protocols. This approach aims to bridge the gap between public blockchains' permissionless nature and banks' compliance frameworks.
