Banks' XRP Token Usage Stagnant Despite Adoption Growth

Ripple's adoption by banks has grown in recent times, but its XRP token usage remains stagnant. This disconnect exists due to various reasons.

Many financial institutions partner with Ripple to use their technology, treating it like a standard modern payment network rather than a crypto-asset platform. They opt for this optionality, which allows them to bypass the need to hold or buy XRP tokens.

Banks also utilize Ripple's liquidity features, such as On-Demand Liquidity (ODL), where XRP acts merely as a temporary bridge currency. It converts fiat to XRP and back to fiat in mere seconds, leaving minimal sustained footprint or long-term volume on the public ledger.

Ripple has introduced corporate treasury tools and stablecoins like RLUSD, giving financial institutions alternative settlement options that do not expose them to the price volatility of XRP tokens. This is a deliberate choice by banks, which often operate under strict risk, compliance, and legal frameworks.
