Barcelona Transfer Target Julian Alvarez Suffers from Severe Depression
FC Barcelona's top transfer target Julian Alvarez has been absent from Atletico Madrid training due to severe depression, according to Spanish radio station COPE. The 22-year-old Argentine striker was expected to participate in a crucial match against Sevilla on Saturday night but will miss the game as a result of his mental health issues.
The news comes amidst a tug-of-war between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona over Alvarez's transfer. The player had agreed to join Barcelona in June, signing a five-year deal with the club, but Atleti refused to negotiate, citing that they would not sell him to their arch-rivals. Instead, they are reportedly trying to push Alvarez towards Arsenal.
Atletico Madrid's CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin expressed his concerns about Alvarez's well-being, stating that the player has been deceived and confused by external factors. Marin described Alvarez as a 'great person' who is going through a difficult situation on both a personal and professional level.
