Base Network Heist Foiled by MEV Bot's Sliding Profits
A malicious wallet on the Base network drained around $500,000 in USDC from a victim's address. Security firm PeckShield observed this transaction. However, when the attacker attempted to swap tokens for WETH, they failed to include sufficient slippage protection.
This oversight allowed an MEV bot to sandwich the transaction and significantly reduce the proceeds. As a result, the attacker received only about 67 WETH, worth roughly $137,000 at current prices.
