Base Surpasses $5B in TVL with 25 New Projects and Integrations
Base, an Ethereum Layer 2 network developed by Coinbase, has released its August update, which includes 25 new products and integrations across various sectors. This update marks a significant milestone for the platform, as it continues to expand its ecosystem.
The new additions span stablecoins, decentralized finance (DeFi), tokenized equities, and AI-driven payment infrastructure. One of the notable launches is MXNB, a stablecoin pegged to the Mexican peso, which allows deposits and withdrawals on Base. This gives the network direct access to one of the largest remittance corridors in the world.
Another significant integration is Credifi, which offers unsecured loans up to $3,000 using Ethos credibility scores rather than traditional collateral. This novel approach to lending is expected to disrupt the norm of overcollateralization in DeFi.
The update also includes the launch of AWS AgentCore Payments, which enables micropayments on Base through the x402 payment standard. This allows AI agents running on AWS to pay for services programmatically, settling transactions without human intervention.
