Base's B20 Standard Surpasses $1B in Trading Volume

The B20 token standard on Base has reached a milestone of $1.051 billion in cumulative decentralized exchange trading volume, according to Dune Analytics data. This achievement was made possible by the launchpad memecoins, which accounted for approximately 83.7% of the recent 30-day span's trading activity.

The first B20 trades appeared around July 8, 2026, roughly two weeks after the Beryl upgrade went live. By late July, the ecosystem had already spawned over 19,000 unique tokens and attracted approximately 180,000 holders. The first trading day alone saw about $207 million in volume.

Primary trading venues for B20 tokens include Aerodrome and Uniswap, both of which have established deep liquidity pools on Base. Coinbase also launched tokenized stock tokens conforming to the B20 standard on August 24, 2026, generating $227.7 million in DEX trading volume within their first 30 days.

The B20 standard was designed to make compliant token issuance simpler through native precompiles, which are essentially built-in smart contract functions baked directly into the network's architecture.
