BB Pioneers Blockchain-Based Note Investment in Latam
Banco do Brasil, Brazil's oldest bank, has made history by investing $5 million in a digital structured note issued by Citigroup using Euroclear's Digital Financial Market Infrastructure (D-FMI) platform. This transaction marks the first of its kind in Latin America and demonstrates the potential of blockchain-based investment instruments.
The deal bypasses traditional steps, allowing for quick cross-border transactions and paving the way for new trading models. Banco do Brasil's Vice President of Wholesale, Franscisco Lassalvia, highlighted the importance of implementing decentralized digitization technology in financial markets, stating that it has become a long-term structural trend.
