Ben McKenzie Eyes Possible Politic Shift Amid Crypto Lobbyist Concerns
Actor Ben McKenzie, best known for his role as Ryan Atwood on The O.C., has expressed interest in potentially trading in his acting career for a life in politics. Speaking to TMZ, McKenzie revealed that he might run for office if cryptocurrency lobbyists continue to push their agenda and influence legislation.
McKenzie was recently on Capitol Hill, where he testified against the CLARITY Act, a proposed bill aimed at establishing a clearer regulatory framework for digital assets and defining the roles of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
The actor has become an outspoken critic of cryptocurrency in recent years, questioning endorsements during the COVID-19 pandemic and co-authoring a book called 'Easy Money: Cryptocurrency, Casino Capitalism, and the Golden Age of Fraud.'
McKenzie blasted corrupt politicians who prioritize taking money from cryptocurrency lobbyists over backing legislation that benefits the industry.
