Ben McKenzie Threatens to Trade Hollywood for Politics Over Crypto Lobbying
Ben McKenzie, an actor known for his role in The O.C., has made it clear that he's not afraid to take on powerful industries. While testifying against a proposed bill related to cryptocurrencies, called the CLARITY Act, McKenzie expressed frustration with lobbyists who are pushing for legislation that benefits their industry.
The CLARITY Act aims to establish a clearer regulatory framework for digital assets and define the roles of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). However, McKenzie believes it will only serve to line the pockets of corrupt politicians who are influenced by cryptocurrency lobbyists.
When asked if his frequent trips to Washington could potentially launch him into a political career, McKenzie joked that he might consider running for office 'if I get so mad' at the corruption he's witnessing. However, it seems that his passion for advocating against fraudulent practices in the crypto industry has only grown stronger.
McKenzie has become one of Hollywood's most outspoken critics of cryptocurrency in recent years, and his concerns are not unfounded. He has written a book with a co-author, 'Easy Money: Cryptocurrency, Casino Capitalism, and the Golden Age of Fraud,' which highlights the dangers of unchecked growth in the industry.
