Bengaluru Surgeon Duped of Rs 4.47 Crore in Cryptocurrency Investment Scam
A 50-year-old surgeon in Bengaluru Rural district lost Rs 4.47 crore to a cryptocurrency investment scam after being lured by promises of high returns.
The doctor, who works at a private hospital, was initially contacted on WhatsApp in the first half of August by a woman claiming to be an investment adviser.
She explained cryptocurrency trading and promised substantial profits within a short period. She later shared the contact number of another person presented as a trading analyst who could assist with investments.
The doctor was offered a deal where his money would be traded through a cryptocurrency platform, with 30% of the profits going to the accused as commission.
