Berlin Hackers Demand 30 Bitcoin Ransom Amid Ongoing Cyberattack

The city of Berlin is facing a severe cyberattack by hackers known as Rhysida. The group has demanded 30 Bitcoin, worth approximately €2 million ($2.31 million), in exchange for not publishing sensitive data they accessed during the breach.

According to Der Spiegel, the attackers targeted the city's administrative data network two weeks ago and threatened to release the stolen information if their demands were not met.

The Berlin state government has declined to comment on the situation, citing investigative tactics as the reason for their silence. Investigations into the cyberattack are ongoing.

Initially, it was believed that only publicly accessible data had been leaked, but the mayor's administrative office later acknowledged that sensitive information, including records from administrative offence proceedings and passwords, had indeed been compromised.
