Bessent: Digital Assets Among Targets in Iran Sanctions Push

Share

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has warned that digital assets could face new sanctions as part of the administration's efforts to increase economic pressure on Iran.

Bessent identified airlines and the maritime industry as other possible targets in a recent interview with Fox News.

The Treasury secretary emphasized the importance of cutting off economic support to Tehran, saying 'My message to everyone is stay away.'

Washington has already taken action against Iranian banks and companies involved in aircraft leasing, freezing or seizing hundreds of millions of dollars in cryptocurrency and sanctions exchanges and wallets tied to Tehran.
