Bessent Urges Senate Vote on Clarity Act Amid Bitcoin Surge
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has urged the Senate to vote on the Clarity Act as soon as possible, citing the need for clarity in the cryptocurrency market. This comes as Bitcoin (BTC) surged toward the $65,000 mark again, rising by over 0.65% and briefly breaking through $64,308.
ETH also rose, approaching the $2,000 mark, while BNB saw a stronger performance, surging over 3% to reach $589. The market's total capitalization reached $2.2 trillion, with Bitcoin's price chart showing a rebound in the cryptocurrency market.
Bessent criticized Senate Democrats on social media for delaying the vote, echoing sentiments from SEC Chairman Paul Atkins who also called on Congress to pass the bill. If passed, the Clarity Act would provide clarity and stability to the cryptocurrency market, a goal that has been pushed by the Trump administration due to concerns about potential delays or repeals in future political transitions.
