Bezos-Backed Offer Rejected for New AI Venture with Record-Breaking Data Capacity

Two researchers, Anima Anandkumar and Benedikt Jenik, turned down a job offer from Project Prometheus, a Jeff Bezos-backed AI venture with $12 billion in Series B funding. Instead of joining the initiative, they developed their own startup, Accelerated Understanding Inc., which unveiled an AI model capable of processing 5 trillion data points in a single prompt during testing.

For context, this capacity is roughly 5 million times larger than the context windows used by leading models from Anthropic or Google. The company's AI model runs on neural operators, a framework that Anandkumar originally helped pioneer, rather than the Transformer architecture that powers most major AI systems currently on the market.

Accelerated Understanding is targeting enterprise clients in industries such as chip design, energy, robotics, and weather prediction. These are areas where traditional AI models often struggle to provide accurate results due to their limited capacity to handle complex interactions between variables.
