Bhutan Taps 3iQ to Manage Portion of National Bitcoin Holdings
Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) is taking its digital-asset investment hub to the next level by partnering with Canadian digital-asset manager 3iQ. The company will manage a portion of GMC's Bitcoin treasury, allocated from the country's national holdings.
According to Bhutanese authorities, up to 10,000 Bitcoin were set aside in December 2025 to support Gelephu's development. Now, 3iQ will bring its institutional discipline and expertise to help put this capital to work responsibly, transparently, and for the long term.
Under the partnership, 3iQ will not only manage the allocated Bitcoin but also establish a long-term presence in Gelephu, invest in local talent, and provide training and knowledge transfer. This marks another significant milestone in GMC's efforts to become a digital offshore financial center focused on innovation, sustainability, and institutional asset management.
