Hunter Biden is part of the founding team behind LAPTOP, a new meme coin launching on September 9th on the Base network. The token has a supply of one billion tokens, with 20% reserved for two airdrop rounds targeting individuals who lost money on TRUMP, another meme coin launched by President Trump's family.
The LAPTOP team aims to capitalize on losses from TRUMP, which debuted just three days before Trump's inauguration in January 2025 and rapidly crashed. According to Nansen data, nearly two-thirds of TRUMP buyers were down $3.81 billion by the end of June.
Biden's involvement with LAPTOP has sparked questions about its legitimacy and safety. The token's plan allows up to 30% of its supply to be destroyed permanently if certain conditions are met, such as Bitcoin reaching a new all-time high or a Democratic win in the 2028 presidential election.
