Biden Family Cashes In on Laptop Controversy with New Memecoin
Hunter Biden is launching a new memecoin called LAPTOP on September 9, which will be listed on Coinbase's Base network. The token has a supply of 1 billion units and its name references the laptop controversy surrounding his father's 2020 presidential election campaign.
The project's founders, including Hunter Biden, have been allocated 30% of LAPTOP's supply, with those tokens locked for six months before vesting over the following two years. Another 20% is reserved for airdrops, including distributions to Biden's Substack subscribers and wallets that lost money holding TRUMP memecoin.
LAPTOP also has a unique token economics structure, which weaves partisan outcomes directly into its mechanics. A Democratic presidential victory can reduce LAPTOP's supply, while overtaking TRUMP's token represents another potential burn event.
