Biden Unveils LAPTOP Memecoin Amid Trump Token Criticism

Hunter Biden is launching a new memecoin called LAPTOP on Base, which he claims is an attempt to reclaim controversy surrounding his past. He described President Donald Trump's TRUMP token as a 'grift,' pointing to figures showing nearly one million wallets with $3.8 billion in losses.

The project allocates 20% of its supply to community airdrops, including 8% for subscribers to Biden's Substack and 2% for wallets that suffered losses on TRUMP. Another 30% is tied to 30 predictions covering politics, cryptocurrency, and culture, with tokens associated with outcomes being burned or donated to charity.

Biden emphasized that he does not expect the token to increase in value and has positioned LAPTOP as an expression rather than a promise of investment returns. The rollout has already drawn pushback from parts of the crypto community, with Kraken removing a promotional post after criticism.
