Billions of Dollars in Bitcoin Options Set to Expire, Amplifying Volatility

A major event is brewing in the Bitcoin market on Friday as $6.4 billion worth of options contracts are set to expire, potentially amplifying price volatility.

The Deribit exchange will see nearly 82,000 options contracts, representing approximately $6.44 billion in notional value, cease to exist at 08:00 UTC. This comprises 44,639 call contracts and 37,061 put contracts, resulting in a put-to-call ratio of 0.83, which indicates bullish positioning.

The two most popular call-option strikes are $75,000 and $80,000, with the former holding the largest call open interest at $236 million in notional value, followed by the latter at $157 million.
