Binance App Disappears from Google Play in Spain Amid MiCA Licensing Concerns
The Binance app has disappeared from Google Play in Spain, sparking concerns about the cryptocurrency exchange's ability to serve customers under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets framework.
A user in Spain confirmed on Monday that the Binance app was no longer available in Google Play searches. However, the application remained accessible through Oppo's App Market, suggesting that the restriction may only apply to Google's distribution channel and not all Android app stores.
The situation is inconsistent across the EU, with checks in Poland showing that Binance remained available through Google Play. This indicates that the change is limited to certain countries or user accounts rather than representing a complete removal from the European market.
Binance's decision to withdraw its MiCA authorization application in Greece shortly before the framework's transitional period ended on July 1 has raised questions about its licensing strategy. The exchange already suspended EU services on July 1, halting new spot orders, deposits, sign-ups, and certain account functions for EU residents.
