Binance App Removed from Google Play Amid MiCA Licensing Hurdles

Binance, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has seen its mobile application removed from the Google Play Store in certain European regions due to regulatory hurdles.

The removal is a direct result of Binance's inability to secure a license under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. Under MiCA rules, crypto asset service providers must be licensed in at least one EU member state to operate across the bloc.

Binance withdrew its MiCA license application in Greece in late June, and without an approved application, it cannot legally offer its services to new EU customers as of July 1. The Google Play removal affects users in countries where Binance has not yet secured local authorization.
