Binance Bolsters Compliance Team Amid Regulatory Scrutiny
Binance has bolstered its compliance team by hiring two senior executives from rival exchange Crypto.com.
The move comes after a string of departures from Binance's compliance and financial-crime monitoring teams earlier in 2026, amidst a regulatory reckoning that began with the exchange's guilty plea over sanctions and anti-money-laundering violations in the US in 2023.
Binance has been actively trying to shore up its compliance operation since then. The hires from Crypto.com signal an attempt to address staffing gaps left by previous departures, including Global Chief Compliance Officer Noah Perlman, who was brought in from Gemini in 2023.
Crypto.com's reputation for aggressively collecting regulatory licenses across multiple jurisdictions makes its talent pool attractive. Binance is trying to build a comprehensive compliance program, including enhanced transaction monitoring and suspicious activity reporting, as part of a settlement reached with the US authorities.
