Binance bStocks Surges Past xStocks as Tokenized Stock Market Soars
Binance's bStocks has rapidly gained traction in the tokenized stock market, surpassing xStocks to become the second-largest issuer by value. According to Token Terminal data, bStocks reached $624 million on August 3rd, narrowly edging out xStocks at $579 million. However, it lags behind Ondo Finance's $927 million in total value.
This marks a significant shift in the tokenized stock landscape, which has grown exponentially over the past year. Just twelve months ago, xStocks led with $40.7 million, while Binance's bStocks didn't exist at all. The total market value tracked by Token Terminal has surged from roughly $80 million to about $2.7 billion.
Binance's co-founder and former CEO, Changpeng Zhao, attributed the rapid growth of bStocks to Binance's existing user base. This allows investors to gain exposure to US stocks through blockchain-based tokens without directly owning the underlying shares.
