Binance Co-CEO Yi He's Unlikely Rise from Humble Beginnings
Yi He, Co-CEO of Binance, has been instrumental in driving the company's rapid growth and success. Born in rural Sichuan Province, China, Yi came from humble beginnings, with her parents borrowing money to fund her education.
After encountering Bitcoin in 2013, she was 'overwhelmingly enlightened' and decided to quit her job as a television anchor to enter the blockchain industry.
Her working life started humbly, promoting soft drinks outside a supermarket on weekends. Within two months, she became the top promotion leader.
Yi later worked at OKCoin, co-founding the digital asset exchange in 2014 and growing its market share in China by 60 percent during a bear market.
She also served as Vice President at Yixia Technology, leading branding and marketing efforts that helped drive the firm's valuation past US$3 billion.
