Binance Converts $1 Billion SAFU Fund to Bitcoin Amid Market Volatility
Binance has announced that it will convert its $1 billion Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) fund, which currently holds stablecoins, entirely into Bitcoin over the next 30 days. The exchange stated this decision aims to support the industry during market cycles and periods of uncertainty while emphasizing continued belief in Bitcoin's long-term value.
The SAFU fund was established to protect users against losses from unexpected incidents like hacks or platform issues. Binance will conduct regular audits and rebalancing of the fund based on market value to address potential volatility from holding Bitcoin instead of stablecoins.
The exchange stated it will rebalance the fund to restore its value to $1 billion if the market value falls below $800 million due to Bitcoin price fluctuations. This commitment ensures the fund maintains its protective capacity regardless of cryptocurrency market movements.
