Binance Defies EU Deadline, Continues Onboarding New Customers
Binance has continued to onboard new European customers despite missing the MiCA licensing deadline on July 1. The exchange was supposed to stop accepting new users and implement its wind-down plans, but tests have shown that new accounts can still be created and verified.
A report by Sandmark found that no warning appeared when attempting to create a new account, and deposits remained available for active accounts. This was observed in several European countries, including Austria, France, Germany, Spain, and Belgium.
Binance has maintained that it intends to stay in Europe and is pursuing authorization through another EU member state. The exchange withdrew its Greek MiCA application in June after the licensing effort stalled.
