Binance Defies EU Regulations, Operating Without MiCA License
Binance has been operating in Europe without a MiCA license, leaving millions of users unprotected. According to recent tests, users from Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, and France can register on Binance's platform without being warned about the lack of a license. This is despite the European Securities and Markets Authority's clear guidelines that unauthorized companies must cease their services in the EU.
The MiCA framework requires platforms to obtain approval from competent authorities before operating in the EU. However, Binance has withdrawn its MiCA license application in Greece, and yet continues to operate without a license in other countries. The platform reassures users about the security of their funds but does not provide any explicit warning or geographical blocking.
Other market players have faced consequences for similar violations. On August 14, Bitpanda was fined €70,000 by the Austrian FMA for non-compliance with MiCA obligations. Binance's actions may set a dangerous precedent for the European crypto ecosystem, undermining regulatory efforts and potentially exposing users to increased risk without safeguards.
