Binance Delists Three Altcoins Amid Separate Project Crises
Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, is delisting three altcoins from its platform. The exchange cited a periodic review of listed assets as the reason for removing ICON (ICX), Secret (SCRT), and Storj (STORJ) in early September.
The decision follows what Binance described as a routine asset review, which evaluates factors including trading volume, liquidity, development activity, team commitment, network stability, and regulatory compliance. The removals extend a broader pruning of Binance's listed markets, with the exchange delisting ALCX, ARDR, NFP, and POND in July under the same review framework.
The three tokens are each confronting significant challenges that extend well beyond their removal from the exchange. ICON is winding down its original blockchain entirely, while Secret Network has been locked in a governance battle over its future. Storj faces a corporate restructuring rather than a technical one, with the company having filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July.
