Binance Dominates Cryptocurrency Trading as Volumes Plummet Across Exchanges
Cryptocurrency spot trading volumes have declined significantly in July 2026 compared to June. According to data from 14 major exchanges, the total spot trading volume reached $429 billion in July, a 21.7% decrease from the previous month's $547.9 billion. This decline is notable as it indicates a weakening of trading activity in the cryptocurrency market during the summer months.
Binance accounted for the majority of the trading volume, with $196.5 billion traded on its platform alone, representing 45.8% of the total market. The top three exchanges, Binance, OKX, and Bybit, made up 64% of the total spot trading volume. Uniswap experienced the smallest decline in volume among the exchanges, with a 9.8% drop.
Bitfinex saw the sharpest decline in spot trading volume, with a 59.7% decrease from June. Coinbase and Bybit also experienced significant declines of 26.4% and 24.5%, respectively. These figures suggest that trading appetite weakened in July across both large and medium-sized cryptocurrency exchanges.
