Binance Downplays Quantum Computing Threat to Crypto
Binance's Chief Security Officer Jimmy Su has addressed growing concerns about quantum computing's potential impact on blockchain networks.
Su stated that current quantum computers lack the scale and stability to break elliptic curve cryptography, which is used in most blockchain networks. He emphasized that the technology has not yet advanced to a level that would immediately threaten user assets.
The industry consensus is that while quantum computing is a long-term concern, it's not an immediate emergency. Su redirected attention to more pressing threats facing crypto users, such as phishing, malware, social media deception, account theft, and poor wallet management.
