Binance Employees Detained Amid UAE Police Inquiries Complicate Exchange's Regulatory Standing
Binance's regulatory standing in the UAE has taken a hit as authorities there have reportedly detained two of its employees amid ongoing police investigations. The move comes after Binance secured comprehensive licensing from the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) in late December 2025, which covered all aspects of exchange operations.
The ADGM licensing framework aimed to establish a gold standard for digital asset oversight in the Middle East. However, European investigators have expressed frustration with Binance's policy shift that routes most non-urgent foreign data requests through UAE channels, resulting in significantly increased response times for ongoing investigations.
