Two Binance employees were detained by UAE authorities in connection with an investigation into possible financial crimes, but both were later released without charges.

The detentions occurred in August and July at Sharjah International Airport and a Dubai-based police station, respectively. The individuals involved were not considered suspects and were released after being questioned.

Binance has faced regulatory challenges worldwide, including a $4.3 billion fine in the US for anti-money laundering violations in 2023. The company's operations in the UAE are likely to continue despite the incident, as it seeks to expand its presence in the Middle East.
