Binance Employees Detained by UAE Police Amid Regulatory Scrutiny

Two Binance employees were detained by UAE police in recent weeks, sparking concerns about official pressure on the company. The detentions occurred despite the UAE being Binance's main regulator.

The incident reportedly began with a mid-level staff member who was stopped at an Emirates airport while traveling through Sharjah this month. He was taken to a police station and held overnight before being released.

This is not the only instance of Binance employees facing issues in the UAE. A leader of Binance's Dubai-based subsidiary was questioned at a police station in July, according to unnamed sources.

The detentions have caused concern among Binance officials, who have reached out to UAE authorities about staff safety. The reason for the detentions is not entirely clear, but it may be related to a corporate bank account that Binance maintains in the Emirates to process withdrawals and deposits by customers.
