Two Binance employees have been detained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) amidst an investigation into alleged financial crimes on the crypto platform.

The New York Times cited four sources familiar with the matter, stating that the two employees were stopped by officers at airports in the UAE. However, it remains unclear what specific matter is being investigated by local authorities.

Binance responded to the report, stating that a small number of its employees had been asked to provide information to UAE authorities as part of a routine investigation into the flow of third-party funds through Binance customer fund accounts.

The company emphasized that the detained employees were not targets of the investigation and had been released after providing information. Binance also noted that it is working with Dubai Police and other authorities to establish clear coordination procedures.
