Binance Eyes UK Comeback with FCA License Bid
Binance is planning to re-enter the UK market by seeking a license from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), a move that could see the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange restore services for British users as early as 2027.
The company will submit an application under the UK's new digital asset regulatory framework, which opens for submissions in September and runs through February 28, 2027. The regime itself goes live on October 25, 2027, giving Binance a clear window to secure authorization before relaunching operations.
Binance has had a rocky history with the FCA, having been informed that it was 'not permitted to undertake any regulated activity in the UK' in June 2021. The new licensing framework represents a fresh start, requiring crypto companies to establish a physical presence in the UK and meet governance and compliance standards before serving customers.
