Binance Founder Warns Users About Trezor Data Breach Risk
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao has warned users about a potential security risk stemming from a data breach at Trezor's logistics service provider. The incident, which affected approximately 13,700 customers, exposed personal information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, and delivery addresses.
CZ emphasized that Trezor's own systems or users' private keys were not compromised, but the leaked data poses a significant risk in terms of phishing attacks, social engineering attempts, and physical security threats. He noted that individuals' identity and physical address information can be directly linked to their cryptocurrency ownership.
CZ stated, 'Not a very good month for hardware wallets,' adding that the incident highlights the different security profiles of hardware wallets and software-based self-custody wallets.
